A Weak Week

The last week has not gone so well, my goal was broken the very next day. I had a messy kitchen, was not feeling well, and was behind on homework so I took the easy way out and let the Mister grab some pizzas from Little Caesars.

But wait.

That was not the end of my goal breaking, we have had take out a total of at least four times since I made that goal. All accompanied with excuses of course, like getting alone time with my youngest daughter, not having time to cook because of errands, and of course the messy kitchen, feeling ill, and homework topped the list of excuses.

The kitchen remained messy until yesterday, work still needs done but it is not the disaster it once was. All sorts of excuses can be made but when you get right down to the heart of the matter, we were just being lazy. And being lazy has cost us because we all know that take out is not cheap, or healthy. A messy kitchen can get expensive folks!

So chicken sits in a sink full of hot water because I forgot to pull it from the freezer in the morning and I am determined not to make any more excuses ... we are eating a home cooked meal tonight!

A New Year ~ A New Journey

It was the beginning of last year, give or take, that I started researching ways to save more money. The budget was tight, and Christmas of course made money tighter. I have come across some wonderful blogs, ideas, and of course met some wonderful people along the way. The journey to saving money is not always easy, it most definitely takes a good amount of time, and even a bit of knowledge. We have come a long way since then, and were presented with a few bumps in the road, however, we made it through the year!

The new year presents to us a new beginning, to take what we learned last year and add to that new knowledge and goals for the year ahead. I am excited to get back into the game of things and come out at the end smarter and more savvy with our money!

My first goal of the year was started yesterday: no more eating out for the rest of this month. We opted for Quizno's last night rather than our typical New Year's dinner at Sizzlers so that we could stay home and watch something on the DVR. That was our ONE gimme for the month, we have a whole month to go now, wish us luck!
